memory

An odd dream leads me to wonder about the nature of memory. Does it work as discrete packages, flashes or packets of data as it were, or as a continuous stream without which the packets make "no sense". Seems to me like I see things as dribbles and raindrops a lot more than I see streams.

I don't know the answer. All I know is very disturbing things happen in my head when I wake up in the wrong part of the sleep cycle! If it comes back to haunt you, you thought it was important at one time. As far as discrete packets. Bluh. I dunno - sounds too much like quantum mechanics and p-chem in general for me to stomach. I like the wave theory.

I recall being integrated with a computer/AI, like it was being injected into me, and I had to explain how this "memory" stuff worked. Perception is a big part of memory I would assume so waves or particles would work either way (if you just see particles, you're just missing the part of the wave that you didn't/can't see or focus on). Except much of my memory is now abstract things that my mind makes up rather than physical encounters. Those physical encounters then take on these eidetic events where they are surrounded by an ocean of normalcy and then a few vivid flash points where I actually did something. Possibly even in the presence of other human beings.

They feel, odd, somewhat odder if I had to explain them to someone/thing else.
