They used to do this but mostly stopped during the Bush administration. It is not walls or border patrols or even ID checks that will work, all these do is shift the problem somewhere else (the ID checks and immigrant harassment in Arizona for example is leading to legal immigrants moving to some other state, depriving that state of vital economic growth potential). The problem, as it relates to immigration laws and supposedly even national security, isn't really more people getting in. The problem is usually people overstaying their visas. Presumably without them it's harder to get a job legally. I don't agree that this should necessarily be at issue, I think employers should be free to contract with whoever they want at the prices they want (ie, can afford to offer as wages), but if people actually want to enforce immigration laws, those are the ones to worry about. Harassing people and putting up fortifications on our southern border isn't going to help and will be far more expensive.Sun Tzuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03435848395263035323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2290940558322177176.post-74647784357968335072010-04-29T09:17:14.492-04:002010-04-29T09:17:14.492-04:00I agree with #2.

(or doing a horrible job of doing this)Teresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16040553825059591114noreply@blogger.com
